Subject: Your ref: FOI/10/65
Dear Ms. Troy,
I refer to your response to my request for information about
descriptions of the locations of where the trees were found.
As QUB is presumably aware, under the Environmental Information Regulations
(as distinct from the FoI Act), there is no limit on the amount of time that a
public institution needs to process a request. Moreover, the
information that I am requesting clearly has potentially much importance,
and is essential to properly interpret the tree-ring width data.
Additionally, QUB has stated that it plans to put the information that I am
requesting online; thus my request merely entails a shortening of QUB's
planned schedule. To conclude, my request is reasonable.
If some portion of the information that was requested is not on record,
then that information presumably need not be released. I observe,
however, that since the tree-ring lab has been largely closed,
putting the requested information online, while the
information is still readily available, would be in the interest
of science and the public.
I hereby appeal.
Sincerely,
Douglas Keenan
